Timothy: Romans 1:29-32
The Sinful Nature of Sinners
29 having been filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, iniquity, covetousness, malice, being full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, evil habits, becoming whisperers,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, proud, braggarts, devisers of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 without discernment, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful,
32 who knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve those practicing them.
Dear God, my beloved Father, I offer thanks to You for the Eternal Living Word You have given me, which I can reflect on today. May Christ strengthen me, and may the Holy Spirit lead me to all truth.
Dear Father, these Bible verses remind me of the words spoken in Jeremiah 17:9-10.
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is incurable; who can know it? I, Jehovah, search the heart, I try the reins, even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”
Dear Father, it is undeniable that our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked, a fact that is recognized even by human beings themselves, including myself. As I reflect on my past, I cannot help but acknowledge my guilt in every vice and wickedness listed by the Holy Spirit in Romans 1:29-32. With age, my deceitfulness and wickedness have only increased, until I am humbled by the boundless love and mercy You have shown me. Your grace and mercy have given me the opportunity to turn away from my sinful ways, for which I am immensely grateful. Your overwhelming love and mercy leave me with no choice but to express my deepest gratitude.
Father, despite being born into a Christian family and taught the Word of God since childhood, I had a terrifying personal experience. I believed in the Gospel and was baptized at the age of 12, but my faith was only based on emotion and reason, not in spirit. As a result, I stumbled easily in the face of temptations and wasted half of my life living according to my own will. I did not accept the Gospel in my spirit, and thus, I did not nourish myself with Your Eternal Living Word every day. Consequently, my faith was unable to manifest itself in actions and became a dead faith. I now understand that the first and continuous action of a person who sincerely accepts the Gospel is to read and reflect on Your Word day and night, and carefully follow it.
Dear Father, I understand that there is truly nothing that can replace obedience to Your commands. As it is written in Joshua 1:8, I have to read and meditate on Your Word day and night, and carefully do according to Your Word so that I can continuously be sanctified and grow in faith. The Lord Jesus Himself prayed that You would use the truth, Your Word, to sanctify us all. But without reading and meditating on Your Word, it is like having food but not eating it, ultimately leading to starvation.
Dear Father, I understand that by reading and meditating on Your Word, I can be freed from deceitful and evil thoughts, grow in my understanding of You, remain steadfast in faith, and do all the good things You have prepared for me.
Dear Father, as I look at the current state of the world, I see that humanity has committed sins to such an extent that it warrants destruction, just as in the time of Noah. Therefore, I understand that the End Times are approaching. Soon, You will judge the world over the course of seven years during the End Times. Moreover, at its end, Christ will return to the earth to destroy all the forces that oppose God, imprison Satan in the deep abyss of Hell, and establish the Kingdom of a Thousand Years.
Dear Father, what comforts and encourages me is that Christ will take His Church out of this world beforehand. I understand that this could happen at any time. The remaining time of the Church on earth is very short, perhaps counted by seconds. Therefore, Your people need to be ready to leave with Christ. In this readiness, we need to be faithful to obey the commandment of Joshua 1:8 in order to continue to be sanctified by Your Word, and to do all the good things that You have prepared for each of us.
Dear Loving Father, I pray that You grant understanding to all my brothers and sisters in faith, so that we may all be ready for the coming of Christ. I am grateful to You, Father, and I humbly ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
In the grace of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
