I Corinthians 15:12-19
The Resurrection of the Dead – Part 1

Today, 06/01/2023, let us, together in the grace of God, rejoice and reflect on the Word of God in I Corinthians 15:12-19.

12 Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

14 And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

15 Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

[King James Version]

Suggested Questions:

1. According to verse 12, some of God’s people do not believe that the dead will rise again. Why would a person who believes in the Gospel, meaning that they believe in Christ who rose again, not believe that they will also rise again?

2. If they do not believe in the resurrection of mankind, do they have to believe that after death, mankind becomes nothing? In that case, what is the purpose of human existence?

3. Why does it say “if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised” (verse 16)?

4. Why does it say “if in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are the most miserable of all men” (verse 19)?

Suggested Applications:

1. According to you, why is the resurrection of mankind reasonable?

2. According to you, what is the purpose of human existence?

3. Are you living a lifestyle that is oriented towards the purpose that God has predetermined for you?
