Priscilla: Romans 3:9-20
God’s Law Condemns Everyone

9 What then? Do we excel? Not at all! For we have charged both Jews and Greeks before, all with being under sin;

10 according as it has been written, “There is not a righteous one, not even one!”

11 “There is not one understanding; there is not one seeking God.”

12 All turned away, they became worthless together, not one is doing goodness, not so much as one!” LXX-Psa. 13:1-3

13 “Their throat is a tomb being opened;” “they used deceit with their tongues; the poison of asps is under their lips;

14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

15 Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16 ruin and misery are in their way;

17 and they did not know a way of peace;

18 there is no fear of God before their eyes.” LXX-Psa. 5:10; 139:4; 9:28; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 35:2; MT-Psa. 14:1-3; 5:9; 140:3; 10:7; Isa. 59:7, 8; Psa. 36:1

19 But we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those within the Law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be under judgment to God.

20 Because by works of Law not one of all flesh will be justified before Him, for through Law is full knowledge of sin. Psa. 143:2

[Literal Translation of the Holy Bible]

Dear God, my Beloved Father, today I offer to You what I have understood through meditating on Your Word in Romans 3:9-20 about the meaning of Your law that convicts all people. I am grateful to You.

Dear God, I understand that it was not because the Jews lived better than the Greeks that You chose them to be priests for the nations. Both Jews and Greeks, that is, all other nations, have sinned alike. Therefore, Your Word teaches that “… all are under sin. There is not a righteous one, not even one!”

Dear God, I understand that humans have been infected with sin since the day they were formed in the womb, due to the inheritance from their fathers. Therefore, humans have a bad nature, love to speak and do sinful things, and do not seek You, God, to live in Your love, holiness, and righteousness. Instead, they try to train themselves in their own way, hoping to become good, or seek religions that teach people to repent and do good deeds, with the hope of being delivered from sin. They hope that through their efforts to train themselves or to do good deeds, they can redeem their words and actions that have caused harm and hurt to others and find peace in their hearts. However, Your Word clearly states that “not one of all flesh will be justified before Him.”

Dear God, I understand that all people have gone astray and are lost in sin, because each person is a sinner, enslaved by sin, and throughout their life they only commit sins. Those who have not been born again by God cannot do good things on their own. It is impossible to keep all Ten Commandments of God. Therefore, humanity has become useless; they do not know how to honor, worship, and thank God. Humanity has gone astray because no one does good deeds that God has prepared for them, which are recorded in the Bible. Humanity has gone astray because they do not come to God to receive forgiveness and become righteous. Humanity has gone astray because they rely on their own righteousness and strength to do good. Humanity has gone astray because of religions with doctrines of evil, not according to the Bible, leading people on a seemingly righteous path but ultimately leading to death. I know that there is no salvation in anyone else; for under heaven, there is no other name given among men by which we must be saved.

Dear God, I understand that in this world, no one seeks You or understands You until You show them mercy and call them to come to You. Although You have placed Your law in the hearts of humanity, enabling them to discern between good and evil, people often choose to live according to their sinful nature, thinking only of satisfying their own desires and ignoring the voice of their conscience. They act according to their own will, disregarding the consequences of their actions because they do not fear You. Those who do not seek You reject the love and grace that You have bestowed upon all humanity, rejecting the redemption offered through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I know that those who do not believe in Your righteousness are in violation of Your commandments and will be judged according to Your law.

Dear God, I understand that God gave His commandments and laws through the Bible to show people how they have sinned and to declare punishment for their sins. The commandments and laws have the power to condemn those who have sinned, but they do not have the ability to save people from the consequences of their sins. The law of God is that every sinner will be punished eternally, for they have sinned against the Eternal One. This is the justice of God for those who do not believe in Him. God is Holy and Just. He cannot but punish sin.

Dear Lord, I thank You for saving me from sin and making me a Christian, a disciple of Christ, a new creation. You have delivered me from the law. You have given me the power to keep the Word of God in my heart so that I can live a holy life according to Your Word, in peace and joy. I am grateful to You.

In the grace of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
