Priscilla: Romans 11:25-36
The Mystery of Israel’s Salvation
25 For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be wise within yourselves, that hardness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the nations comes in;
26 and so all Israel will be saved, even as it has been written, “The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
27 And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins.” Isa. 59:20, 21
28 Indeed, as regards the gospel, ones hostile toward you, but as regards the election, beloved for the sake of the fathers.
29 For the free gifts and the calling of God are unregrettable.
30 For as you then also disobeyed God, but now have obtained mercy by the disobedience of these,
31 so also these now have disobeyed, so that they also may obtain mercy by your mercy.
32 For God shut up all into disobedience, that He may show mercy to all.
33 O the depth of the riches and of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who became His counselor?” Isa. 40:13
35 “Or who first gave to Him, and it will be repaid to him?” Job 41:11
36 Because of Him, and through Him, and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever! Amen.
[Literal Translation of the Holy Bible]
Dear God, my Beloved Father, today I offer You my meditation on the Word of God in Romans 11:25-36, about the mystery of the salvation of the people of Israel.
Dear God, I understand verses 25 to 27 as follows: The Apostle Paul did not want the Gentiles to be ignorant of the mystery that You will save the people of Israel from their unbelief. Most of Israel only accepted You through the teaching in the Old Testament but rejected Christ. When the Gospel has been preached to all nations and the full number of Gentiles who believe in Christ have come in, then Christ will come again to save the people of Israel. This is the moment when the Israelites will be saved and believe in Christ, thus fulfilling Your promise to Abraham and to Israel, as prophesied in the Holy Scriptures.
Dear God, I understand verses 28 to 30 as follows: Because the Israelites oppose the faith of those who believe in the Gospel, they are enemies of the Church. I understand that Your grace of salvation for humanity remains unchanged. However, after people have believed in the redemptive death of Jesus Christ, they cannot continue to live in sin and transgress Your commandments. Those who do so have despised Your mercy and will lose their share of grace and salvation because of their disobedience.
Dear God, I understand verses 31 to 33 as follows: Because all have sinned and disobeyed You, You have shown mercy and given redemption to humanity. After the Gospel was preached, some believed while others did not, and people still wander in sin, even the Israelites. The Israelites also need Your mercy, just like other nations. Although they grew up with knowledge of You and read the Old Testament, they did not believe in Christ and became opposed to You. You showed mercy and gave redemption to all, whether Israelites or other nations.
Dear God, I understand verses 34 to 36 as follows: You are the Almighty and All-knowing God. Your infinite wisdom is beyond human understanding, and no one can know Your mind. Your mercy is abundant, and Your judgment is righteous. As You are God, You do not need anyone’s advice, reminder, or help. For You have created all things, You understand all things, and You are present everywhere. Everything You do for all of creation reflects Your love, holiness, and righteousness. All that You do is complete and in accordance with Your good and holy will. You desire for humanity to accept Your salvation and enjoy Your love. We should only honor and worship You, for all glory belongs to You forever and ever!
I am grateful to You. May love and grace from the Triune God always cover me. Amen!
In the grace of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
