Priscilla: Romans 1:29-32
The Sinful Nature of Sinners

29 having been filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, iniquity, covetousness, malice, being full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, evil habits, becoming whisperers,

30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, proud, braggarts, devisers of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 without discernment, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful,

32 who knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also approve those practicing them.

Dear God, before I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, I was just a sinner. Most of the sins that You mentioned in the above Scriptures, I had committed. Even though I knew that I had to do the right things and avoid doing the wrong things, I couldn’t apply that to myself. It’s because my old flesh had been deceived by the Devil to do what he wanted. Therefore, my thoughts, words, and actions were all evil and wicked in front of You. As the Lord Jesus said:

“You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. That one was a murderer from the beginning, and he has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own, because he is a liar, and the father of it” (John 8:44).

Dear God, I know that religions teach people to do good and avoid evil, but I also know that religions cannot help me change my life for the better. As the Word of God affirms, “There is no one righteous, not even one.” Religions teach theories that are not in accordance with the standards that God has taught in the Bible. I have experienced the power of the Lord Jesus Christ to change my life. After accepting Him, I read the Word of God, the Bible, and it showed me my sins and their consequences. It is the stern judgment of God and how He will punish those who commit sins that makes me afraid of God’s judgment for the sins I have committed.

Thank God, because by studying and following the Word of God every day, I am sanctified every day, after allowing the old self to die and being raised up in a new self in Christ. Therefore, from the spirit to the body, I can live pleasing to You.

Dear God, I understand that people in the world live in sin, committing acts that go against Your commandments. Not only do they commit them, but they also take pleasure in those who commit the same sins as them. They delight in their wrongdoing, while others suffer as their victims. For example, when someone lies to cheat someone else out of their money, they rejoice and boast to their peers about how clever they were in deceiving them. This is the insatiable greed, the cunning deceit, and the great wickedness of those without You. Those who have become slaves to sin, turning themselves into instruments of wrongdoing, commit injustices against others.

Dear Lord, I know that living in this flesh, there will be many challenges and temptations from the Devil. He will attack me in everyday life. You teach us: “Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.” In the past, Jesus Himself resisted the Devil with the Word of God. Therefore, I need to learn the Word of God to follow all of Your teachings, as recorded in the Bible. I understand that when I live a holy life with a sincere and pure heart before You, You will be with me to help me overcome all the temptations and sins that the Devil brings, as promised in Your Word. I thank You. Amen!

In the grace of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
