Priscilla: Joshua 1:8
The Very Important Commandment

“This book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, and you shall meditate on it by day and by night, so that you shall be on guard to do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall prosper your way, and then you shall act wisely” (Joshua 1:8).

Dear Triune God, my beloved and faithful Lord, I offer You my honor and love. Today, Lord, I ask for Your guidance as I reflect on what I have learned through Your teachings in Joshua 1:8 of the Holy Bible.

In order to prosper, be successful, and wise with all the blessings in my life, I must constantly meditate on and obey Your Word day and night. Then, I must carefully do everything I learn from Your Word.

Dear Lord, I need to read the Bible every day and meditate on its meaning. After reading, I need to continue to meditate and ask the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom and understanding to apply Your Word in my life. By doing this, I will have a closer relationship with You, Lord. I understand that the time I meditate on Your Word is the time when I am in communication with You, asking for Your guidance to understand the meaning of each verse of the Bible.

Dear Lord! I understand that when I have understood Your Word, I must carefully and wholeheartedly do what pleases You. Because only those who carefully do everything in the Book of the Law, the Bible, can receive blessings from God. Blessings can only come from God.

“Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies with Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).

Dear Lord! I understand that if I want to prosper in my path, I must carefully follow every Word of Yours, whether in favorable or unfavorable circumstances. Because every hardship is also something that You allow to happen in my life. It is also Your good will for me. Because I know that every experience works for the benefit of those who love God. Job once said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.”

Dear Lord, I understand that when people diligently read, meditate day and night, and carefully follow everything written in the Bible, then God will be with them. They will no longer be afraid when facing hardships in life, as they are confident that the Almighty God is with them, watching over and caring for them, as promised by God in Joshua 1:9.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Dear Lord, Your commandment is to meditate on Your Word day and night and to carefully follow it, not only for adults but also for children. In a family of God’s people, parents have the responsibility to guide their children to read the Bible every day so that God may bless them, and they may be sanctified by God’s Word. By doing so, they will have wisdom in understanding God’s words, fear and obey Him, and prosper in their studies and future lives, both spiritually and physically.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9

5 And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.

6 And these Words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart.

7 And you shall teach them to your sons, and shall speak of them as you sit in your house, and as you walk in the way, and as you are lying down, and as you are rising up.

8 And you shall bind them for a sign on your hand; and they shall be for frontlets between your eyes.

9 And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house, and on your gates.

In the family of God’s people, when descendants make mistakes, grandparents and parents have the authority given by God to use His Word to rebuke, teach, and correct according to His command. If someone does not teach their children from a young age, and does not dare to rebuke and correct them strictly according to God’s Word, then when their children grow up, they will be corrupted and will not follow the way of the Lord. Because they did not wholeheartedly teach and train their children, one day grandparents and parents will have to give an account before God for not carefully following everything written in the Holy Bible.

“Train up a child in the way he should go, when he is old he will not turn from it.” (Proverbs 22:6).

“Do not withhold discipline from a child; for if you strike him with the rod, he will not die.” (Proverbs 23:13).

God gave Joshua a principle: if he obeyed it, he would prosper, be successful in a wise way. The principle was to read and meditate on God’s Word day and night, being careful to do everything written in it.

Thank you, Lord! This is also the principle that You have given me. Please help me to obey with my whole heart, all my soul, and all my strength, being careful to follow all that You have taught me, which are clearly recorded in the Holy Bible, so that I may prosper and be blessed in my life forever.

“Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” (Psalm 23:6)

I thank You, Heavenly Father, Who is loving and truthful in all Your words. Amen!

In the grace of Jesus Christ, my Lord.
